Solution to package parsing error on Android

There are several reasons why the message " An error occurred during package analysis " appears during an APK installation, so let's go over some solutions for the package analysis error.

Allow APK installations from unknown sources

Android Smartphones, for security reasons , prohibit the user from installing third-party applications and games from any source except Google Play Store.

Reason why when trying to install an .apk file, you may get the message "parsing error" or "there was a problem parsing the package".

To solve this problem, you must allow the application to be installed from unknown sources, for that you have to do the following:

  1. Go to the phone's Settings.
  2. Go to S egcurity or Privacy and enter.
  3. Look for the " Unknown source " option , enable it and go back to the apk file to install it.

Enable USB debugging to install an apk file

It is not necessarily required to activate this option to be able to install an application or game downloaded outside of the Google Play Store, but nevertheless, there are reports where when activating USB Debugging, it allows us to install the desired application .

To do this, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Swipe to the About device option.
  3. Find the Build Number and press it 8 times to activate the developers option (a message will appear indicating that the option has already been activated).
  4. Go back to the main Settings menu and enter Developer Option (in some models you will find it within System ).
  5. Find the USB debugging option  and enable it.
  6. Please try installing the APK file again.

Corrupted APK file

Another cause for receiving the installation error message may be due to the downloaded APK file being corrupted or having been downloaded with failures.

To solve this problem, you have to download the APK file again or, if possible, from another source to verify if it is damaged or not.

Turn off Google Play Protect

This last option is not recommended, unless you have another antivirus installed, in case you do not have an antivirus, you can always verify that the APK file does not contain viruses before downloading or installing it.

To deactivate Google Play Protect you must do the following:

  1. Enter the Google Play Store application.
  2. Tap on the menu icon represented by three horizontal lines.
  3. Tap on Play Protect.
  4. Inside, tap on the Settings icon located at the top right of the screen.
  5. Finally, deactivate both options and then try to install your APK file.
