How to free up space on WhatsApp with its internal tool

For a long time WhatsApp has been one of the applications that occupies the most storage space on our phones, all thanks to the files received by certain contacts.

If you usually talk every day and receive images, videos and documents, over time you will notice that the storage space of the terminal is decreasing.

In a latest update, WhatsApp included a manager that can be used to free up storage space, find large files that take up a large chunk of memory, and allow you to delete them.

This is one of the important new features to take into account, since it can be used by any user of the application at any time.

How to free up internal storage with the WhatsApp tool

WhatsApp used to let us know which groups have the most storage capacity a while ago, the downside at the time was that we had to manually delete the files, which was a bit tedious.

However, now you can free up WhatsApp storage space using the internal tool in just a few steps.

To do this, you simply have to enter the storage manager. This option is found in the application settings. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Enter the WhatsApp application.
  • Tap on the three vertical dots.
  • Inside, go to "Settings".
  • After logging in, the option "Storage and data" will appear , tap right there and then enter "Manage storage".
  • On the screen you will be able to see the largest file at the top and know which group or conversation it belongs to.
  • To select a file, tap on the video or image to load it, select the file by tapping on it, and then the trash can icon will appear in the upper right corner to permanently delete it.

Do this regularly, especially if you want to reserve some space on your phone, because over time, videos, audios and images can leave the device and cause insufficient storage space.

Using the internal tool to free up WhatsApp storage space will save us time to install external applications.
