Developer options on Android: functions that you can activate

There is no doubt that one of the most complete mobile operating systems that exist today comes from Google, specifically Android, because it allows developers and users to use a tablet or smartphone with this operating system to experiment and perform different tasks with options of developer.

This function is hidden in the Android device, so inexperienced users should not activate it, as this option is to make a very important configuration for the operation of the device. But like me, there are many people who like to customize their mobile devices in the best way to enjoy it to the fullest.

Tools in Android are always very good, which is why today we learned more about some of the best ones that can be tweaked from the Developer Options feature.

Activating the developer mode in Android and its functions

First of all you need to enable developer mode option on your Android phone.

To do this, you just need to enter the settings of your Android phone, and then enter the "Phone information" section or in some models it can say "About the device", once you enter, you will see a series of options that you have used on your device at other times.

This is where you need to press the "Build number" option 7 times in total, and when you finish pressing the seventh time, a notification will appear on the screen informing you that the developer option has been successfully activated on your device.

In order to access this new option, you must return to the main settings menu, or if you left completely, you just have to enter the phone settings.

In the penultimate option, you will see that the new Developer Options menu is available (in some models you must enter the "System" section to see the new developer option).

So now it's time to learn about some additional features that you can access from the developer menu.

Android Developer Options Features

Next, we will see a list to quickly highlight which options work for us and understand all the possibilities that we have in Android, regardless of the model or manufacturer.

Create bug report

This option can be used in two ways, but both have the same purpose: interactive reports and full reports.

It is about preparing a text document that contains a lot of information, that shows the general operation of the mobile device and notifies you if there is any problem.

It is very useful when we come across problems and want to share information on forums or websites so that they can solve it for us.

Computer copy password

If we connect Android phone to PC and turn on USB debugging, we can use ADB command to backup our Android.

With this option, we can also create a password so that this backup is encrypted and only we can access it.

Screen active / always on when charging

A very clear function. If we activate it, the screen will never turn off while we are charging, which is very useful, for example, if we watch a movie on a mobile phone or tablet and we do not want it to turn off.

Enable log capture and inspection of HCI via Bluetooth

Here we can allow developers or security experts to analyze the Bluetooth HCI (Host Controller Interface) over Bluetooth.

If enabled, data packets will be generated on the device in the path (/sdcard/btsnoop_hci.log), which can then be analyzed using tools such as Wireshark.

Enable OEM unlock

If you want to remove Android protection, you must enable this option.

It is used to unlock the bootloader, in the rest we can do it through here, and then, among other things, the anti-theft protection will be deleted and we will be able to root the phone or install other modified firmware.

Turn off animations

You can turn off the animation on your Android phone, because when your phone is a bit slow, this is a good option, because you can load it as soon as you access any app, or if you don't want to turn it off, you can scale them.

Go to the "transition animation scale", "window animation scale" and "animation duration scale" options.

So a good option to make your phone faster is to put all of these at 0.5X, because it is the first option among all other options, because they often appear in the form of 1X, this is not very convenient for devices with little RAM.

However, if you want more fluidity in an application with a lot of animations, it is best to change the option to "Disable animation", which can only be achieved through "Developer options".

Improve graphic quality

For this, you only need to activate the option "Enable 4X MSAA", so that you have better stability for OpenGL ES 2.0 type applications, and your game will have better graphics.

It should be noted that the performance of the hardware will consume the battery faster.

Allow test locations

This is a good option if you want to use it for example, to play Pokémon Go, you have to go outside to play, so to use this option you have to activate the Allow Test Locations tab and use an application like Fake GPS.
