Google Play Services  is part of a suite of Google apps that comes installed by default on Android phones. So the Google Play Services has stopped message or notification may rarely appear in one or more apps. These software bugs are usually easy to fix.

But... Why did Google suddenly stop? The most common reason why the Google Play has stopped message appears, may be due to a sudden update that is causing a conflict, as it is an application that is constantly updated, it is possible that some may be affected on some devices.

Uninstall Google Play Services update

This method involves uninstalling the Google Play Services update . In this way, older versions of Play Services are likely to be compatible with outdated apps . After you resolve the issue, you can keep Google Play Services up to date.

You can easily do this through the Google Play Services settings . For example, in Samsung Galaxy S20 it should be done as follows:

  1. Open Settings or Phone  Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Tap on Application Manager.
  4. Then tap on More at the top right. Select the Show system apps option.
  5. Tap on Google Play Services . 


Here are steps to uninstall Google Play Services update : 

  1. Tap on More at the top right.
  2. Select Uninstall update.
  3. Then tap OK in the window that appears, to confirm the uninstallation of the update and leave the factory version pre-installed instead.


Note: Before uninstalling the update, you may need to disable Google Play Services as a device administrator. 

The phone will automatically tell you where to do it. Once the error is resolved, you will need to reactivate it.

This is done through System settings > Lock screen and security > Other security settings > Device management.

(Optional) Verify that remote control of the device is enabled. It can be seen in System Settings > Google > Security > Remotely locate this device  / Remotely lock and wipe device .


Update Google Play Services to fix error

Normally an app that is pre-installed on the device is automatically updated. However, if it cannot be done automatically, it can be done manually, and the process is really quite simple. To do this, you must follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Play Store and search for Google Play Services.
  2. If it shows as installed, it's because the app has been completely updated or at least updated to the latest version of features.
  3. If instead of saying it's installed it says Update , click the button and it will install. 


Now, if for some reason it does not allow you to update and there is an error in the application, before carrying out this process you must do the following:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Open the Applications section.
  3. Search for Google Play Services.
  4. Tap on Clear app data.
  5. Go to the Play Store and search for Google Play Services.
  6. If it shows as installed, it's because the app has been completely updated or at least updated to the latest version of features.
  7. If instead of saying it's installed it says Update , click the button and it will install.

Remember that you must enable Unknown Sources to install apps outside of Google Play.


Clear device cache to fix Google Play services keeps stopping

This method consists of deleting all the caches that contain the device where the Android system is located, so we must be careful. The steps we must perform are the following:

  1. Power off your Android device.
  2. Enter recovery mode on your Android phone. This is usually done by pressing POWER + HOME + VOLUME UP button with the device turned off.
  3. After turning on the device, it will boot into recovery mode (Recovery) . Then a menu of options will be displayed.
  4. Use the volume buttons to navigate to the Wipe Cache Partition option.
  5. Then use the POWER button to perform Wipe Cache Partition.


After the cache clearing process is over, we move to Reboot System Now to reboot the phone and wait for it to power on normally, then check that the Google Play Services error is fixed.


Factory reset phone to fix Google Play Services keeps crashing

If none of the above solutions can resolve this error on Google Play , we can only restore the phone to factory settings.

We must remember that before performing this process, we must make a backup of all the data so that in this way we can restore all this information after the restart.
