How to Get Google Play Music Player Back on Android

Google Play Music  was one of the favorite music players for all Android users. We say "it was" because the app was officially removed from the Google Play Store, which leaves us with the only option to hide the app or use its YouTube Music replacement.

While we may choose to use an alternative music player, there is still a method to continue using the Google Play Music player on your Android phone and avoid being forced to upgrade to its replacement.

Solution to get Google Play Music back again

In this article we are going to show you how to get Google Play Music back on your Android device.

Bearing in mind that this player is already installed by default on some Android phones, and that on other models it had to be downloaded, now it will not be possible.

Since  Google Play Music is not available in the Play Store , so we will have to search an older or older version of Google Play Music in APK format.

Reinstall Google Play Music from the beginning

To install and recover Google Play Music player using an older version, follow the steps below:

  • Uninstall the Google Play Music app.
  • Open the web browser from your Android phone.
  • Enter the following link Google Play Music old version and download an older version (currently the May 2020 version works very well, but otherwise, the March 2019 version works perfectly).
  • If this is the first time you are going to install an APK, do not forget to Activate the Unknown Sources option on Android.
  • After installing the Google Play Music app, it is IMPORTANT not to open it. Immediately enter the Google Play Store.
  • Tap on your profile photo to open the menu and go to " My apps and games ".
  • Tap on the " Installed " tab and search for the Google Play Music app.
  • Tap on the app to enter and tap on the 3 dots located at the top of the screen.
  • Finally disable the option "Update automatically".

Following these steps, you can now recover and use the Google Play Music player to continue enjoying your music.

Reinstall Google Play Music on preinstalled phones

In the event that the Google Play Music application was installed by default or from the factory, you only have to do the following to continue using the music player:

  • Uninstall the Google Play Music update, for that go to the Google Play Store and search for the app.
  • If Play Music no longer appears in the Play Store, access it from " My apps and games ".
  • Go to the " Installed " tab and search for the Play Music app.
  • Touch to enter the app.
  • Before uninstalling the update, tap on the 3 dots and turn off the “ Update automatically ” option.
  • Proceed to uninstall the update by tapping on the “ Uninstall ” button.

When performing this uninstallation, we will keep the first version or the same one that came by default on our Android phone.

You can also try installing a slightly more current version, I do not recommend that you try one higher than May 2020.
